KMF High School Scholarship South Africa 2027

The Kay Mason Foundation (KMF) South African Trust is inviting talented and motivated learners to apply for its High School Scholarship Programme for the 2027 academic year.

This life-changing opportunity is aimed at Grade 6 learners in 2025 who will be entering Grade 8 in 2027, helping them access quality education at top South African schools while receiving ongoing academic, financial, and emotional support.

About the KMF High School Scholarship 2027

The KMF scholarship is designed for learners with academic potential and leadership qualities, providing them with the resources to achieve their full potential in high school.

Scholarship coverage includes (partial):

  • School fees
  • Uniforms and textbooks
  • Transport to and from school
  • Tutoring and school camps
  • Extracurricular activities

Additional benefits include:

  • Support workshops
  • Psychometric testing
  • Career guidance
  • Post-graduation support

Note: This scholarship is partial funding. Parents/guardians partner with KMF to contribute towards the learner’s education.


Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be between 10 and 13 years old in 2025
  • Be in Grade 6 in 2025 and entering Grade 8 in 2027
  • Live in the Western Cape (Cape Town, Southern Suburbs, Northern Suburbs, Helderberg Area, or within travel distance to Bellville)
  • Have a combined household gross income of R17,500 or less per month
  • Be able to travel to Bellville every Saturday for classes
  • Show leadership potential, strong work ethic, and commitment to school

Required Supporting Documents

Submit clear scanned copies of the following (applications without all documents will be disqualified):

  1. Learner’s birth certificate
  2. Parent/guardian ID or death certificate (if applicable)
  3. Grade 5 (Term 4) report & Grade 6 (Term 1) report
  4. Handwritten essay by the learner describing their family, living conditions, and community
  5. 3 months’ bank statements of parents/guardians
  6. Proof of income (depending on employment status):
    • Employed: 3 months’ payslips, 3 years IRP5s, employment contract
    • Self-employed: 3 years business tax returns & IRP5s if drawing a salary
    • Unemployed: affidavit stating duration/reason for unemployment
    • SASSA grants: letter confirming all grants received
    • Disabled/unable to work: proof of disability
    • Retrenched: retrenchment and UIF letter
    • Pension: 3 months pension statements OR payslips OR 3 years IRP5s
    • Maintenance: court order as proof

Selection Process & Timeline

  1. First academic assessments – 7 June 2025
  2. Final screening – July–August 2025
  3. Second assessment & workshop – 20 September 2025
  4. Presentations & interviews – 25 October & 1 November 2025
  5. Camp – 11–13 December 2025
  6. Scholarships awarded – February 2026

Shortlisted candidates must attend all assessments, interviews, and Saturday classes in Bellville as part of the Selection and Support Programme.
Being shortlisted does not guarantee a scholarship.
