Purpose of the Role
The main responsibility of the Receiving Clerk is to manage all stock delivered to the store. This includes checking deliveries, capturing stock information, organising the storeroom, and ensuring products are correctly labelled before they are moved to the sales floor.
The role also requires maintaining accurate stock records and ensuring the storeroom remains organised and secure.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform a range of stock management and administrative duties.
Stock Receiving and Processing
Receive and capture all incoming stock deliveries
Process and capture supplier invoices
Verify stock quantities against invoices
Ensure stock delivered is in good condition
Forward invoices for payment processing
Stock Control and Administration
Query discrepancies with suppliers when invoices do not match deliveries
Issue and process return vouchers and arrange for stock collection
Follow up on credit notes from suppliers
Accurately label, code, and price all received stock
Adjust stock pricing on the system when supplier prices change
Stock Monitoring
Check stock levels in the system and in the store
Report any stock variances to the department head
Conduct weekly and monthly spot checks on stock
Record damaged or returned goods accurately
Storeroom Management
Maintain the security and safekeeping of all stock in the storeroom
Ensure the storeroom remains tidy and organised
Label goods correctly before transferring them to the sales floor
Maintain orderly filing systems and accurate records
Additional Duties
Prepare stock labels during high season
Assist with other duties when requested by management
Hold weekly check-ins with the line manager to ensure all paperwork is up to date
