Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric
- BPharm Degree (4-year qualification)
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Registered with SAPC or eligible for registration
Advantageous
- Experience gained during studies (holiday work)
- Knowledge of Unisolve and E-Scripting
Key Functions and Duties
Dispensary & Patient Care
- Interpret prescriptions accurately
- Capture and verify patient details
- Pick, pack, label, and dispense medication
- Provide clear medicine usage instructions and counsel patients
- Handle S1 and S2 medication sales
- Compound sterile and non-sterile preparations
- Ensure all scripts are checked and signed by a pharmacist
Operational Duties
- Assist with stock control and distribution (S1–S6)
- Repackage medication according to SOPs
- Assist with scheduled medicine orders up to Schedule 6
- Maintain customer profiles and alert notes
- Track patient prescriptions and follow up when needed
- Assist at the dispensary and front shop
- Participate in stock takes and asset management
Medical Aid & Administration
- Submit claims accurately
- Correct rejected claims
- Assist with chronic, HIV, AIDS, and oncology medication authorisations
- Explain medical aid and cash price differences
- Handle all relevant pharmacy paperwork
Housekeeping, Safety & Standards
- Follow Dis-Chem SOPs and uniform standards
- Maintain a safe dispensary environment
- Follow OHS guidelines and report hazards
- Keep all work areas clean and organised
