The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison in Mpumalanga Province invites unemployed youth residing in the province to apply for the Basic Traffic Officer Diploma Learnership Programme for the 2025/2026 intake.
This 12-month learnership offers young people the opportunity to develop essential skills and gain recognized qualifications in Traffic Law Enforcement, while earning a monthly stipend of R5,000. Training will be conducted at the Mpumalanga Traffic Training College in Mkhuhlu (Calcutta), situated within the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.

Programme Overview
The Basic Traffic Officer Learnership Programme aims to empower and upskill young South Africans through comprehensive theoretical and practical training in traffic law enforcement. Participants will undergo rigorous academic modules combined with physical fitness and practical field training, preparing them for a career in public safety and road management.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a Diploma in Basic Traffic Officer (NQF Level 4) — a nationally recognized qualification that opens doors to employment in various traffic and law enforcement departments.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must hold a Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate.
- Must possess a valid Code B driving licence.
- Must be a South African citizen residing in Mpumalanga Province.
- Must have no criminal record.
- Must be medically fit, with the ability to undergo strenuous physical assessments.
- Must be willing to participate in driving and competency tests as part of the selection process.
