About the Victor Thebe Sifora Bursary Scheme
The Victor Thebe Sifora Bursary Scheme is a provincial initiative that provides financial assistance to academically deserving students who reside permanently in the North West. Its primary goal is to help youth from disadvantaged backgrounds access higher education opportunities while developing professionals in critical sectors such as health, education, engineering, social development, and governance.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the bursary, applicants must:
- Be South African citizens permanently residing in the North West Province.
- Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
- Be studying or intending to study full-time in one of the approved fields for 2026.
- Have gained acceptance or plan to study at a public tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Demonstrate strong academic performance.
- Be financially needy with preference given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Required Documents
Applicants must upload certified copies of the following:
- South African ID document
- Matric final results or certificate
- Latest academic results (if already studying)
- Proof of acceptance from a tertiary institution (if available)
- Parents’ or guardians’ proof of income (payslips, affidavit, or pension statement)
- Proof of permanent residence (letter from Municipality or Traditional Authority)
- Proof of disability (if applicable)
