Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
- Valid Code B driver’s licence (manual transmission)
- No criminal record (SAPS clearance will be conducted)
- Medical certificate (not older than 3 months) confirming ability to perform strenuous exercise
- Must be physically fit (full medical examination will be conducted at state expense)
- Must not be older than 35 years of age on the first day of training
- Must be a South African citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must be a fit and proper person with strong personal integrity
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

Duties and Responsibilities
Trainee Provincial Inspectors will be responsible for:
- Enforcing road traffic, public passenger, and transport legislation
- Implementing approved traffic law enforcement activities
- Ensuring free flow of traffic through point duty and traffic control
- Managing and safeguarding accident scenes
- Participating in traffic policing projects and speed operations
- Issuing notices, executing arrests, and attending court proceedings
- Escorting abnormal vehicles and monitoring overload control
- Examining drivers’ licences and motor vehicles for compliance
- Monitoring Driver Licence Testing Centres (DLTC) and Vehicle Testing Stations (VTS)
