About the BBD Bursary Programme
BBD is inviting talented students to apply for its Bursary & Beyond Programme for the 2025–2026 academic year. This initiative not only funds your studies but also provides mentorship, training, and career opportunities within the IT sector.
Fields of Study Covered
The bursary is available for students pursuing a BSc, BEng, BCom, or BIS degree at Bachelor’s, Honours, Master’s, or Doctorate level in the following areas:
- Computer and Software Engineering
- Computer Science
- Game Design
- Informatics
- Information Technology
What the Bursary Covers
The bursary provides:
- Full coverage of university tuition fees
- A monthly allowance for living costs and study expenses
- Mentorship and continuous support during studies
- Practical exposure to software development and technology tools
Additionally, recipients will participate in Vac Week, a yearly workshop where bursars collaborate on group projects, explore new technologies, and engage with the BBD culture. Upon graduation, bursars will transition into the BBD Graduate Programme, joining professional teams to work on real-world projects.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the BBD Bursary, applicants must meet these requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be in Matric or have completed Matric
- Must be studying or accepted to study towards one of the listed qualifications at a recognised South African university
- Minimum overall average of 70% in Matric (if currently in Matric)
- Minimum overall average of 65% at tertiary level (if already studying)
- Must demonstrate a passion for technology and software development
- Must show interest in building and creating software solutions
