Are you passionate about mechanics and ready to kickstart a hands-on career in mining? Trollope Mining Services is giving young South Africans the opportunity to train as Diesel Mechanics and Heavy Equipment Mechanics through their 2025 Apprenticeship Programme.
This 36-month programme is designed to develop skilled artisans through formal technical training and practical experience at various Trollope Mining sites across South Africa.
Apprenticeship Overview
This is more than just a training opportunity—it’s your gateway into a high-demand trade. Through this structured apprenticeship, learners will be trained to become Qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanics, fully accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).
Successful candidates will be registered as Unemployed Apprentices (18.2) with their relevant SETA and begin their training journey under Trollope Mining Services’ guidance.

What You’ll Train As
The apprenticeship focuses on two key mechanical disciplines vital to mining operations:
- Diesel Mechanic
- Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of Grade 10 to Grade 12 with technical subjects
- N1–N3 Mathematics
- N1–N3 Science
- N1–N3 Engineering Drawing & Design
- N1–N3 Diesel Trade Theory
- Valid South African Driver’s License (proof required)
- South African citizenship (ID copy must be attached)
- Age between 19 and 25 years
- Medically fit to perform technical duties
- Good communication, time management, and people skills
- Able to work under pressure and pay close attention to detail
