South African National Parks (SANParks), in partnership with CATHSSETA, has opened applications for the Field Guiding Skills Programme 2026. This programme is based at Bontebok National Park in the Western Cape and offers unemployed youth an opportunity to gain practical skills, workplace exposure, and a monthly stipend while pursuing a career in conservation and eco-tourism.

What You Will Learn

The Field Guiding Skills Programme combines structured training with practical, on-the-job experience. Key learning areas include:

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  • South African citizen
  • Under 35 years of age
  • Grade 12 (Matric) completed
  • Unemployed
  • Reside within 40–100 km of Bontebok National Park
  • Clear criminal record
  • Physically fit
  • Must not have previously participated in any SANParks skills programmes, learnerships, or internships

This programme is aimed at first-time beneficiaries to ensure fair access for new participants.
