The South African National Parks (SANParks) is now accepting applications for its External Bursary Programme, aimed at first-year students beginning their studies in 2026. This opportunity is open to young people living in communities near South Africa’s national parks.

What is the SANParks External Bursary Programme?

Who Should Apply?

To be eligible for the bursary, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Live in a community located next to a national park, as outlined in SANParks’ management plans
  • Be entering their first year of undergraduate or TVET study in 2026
  • Have been accepted at an accredited South African public higher education institution
  • For current students: must have passed all registered modules with a 100% success rate

Preference will be given to women, people with disabilities, and individuals from designated groups.
