About the Robben Island Museum Internship
This structured, work-based internship is designed to equip graduates with real-world experience, confidence, and professional skills that improve employability. Interns will be placed in various departments based on their qualifications and career aspirations.
Location: Robben Island Museum, Cape Town, Western Cape
Duration: 12 Months
Stipend: R6,500 per month
Available Internship Opportunities by Department
RIM is offering internship placements in the following departments:
1. Heritage Department
- Audio Visual / Multi-Media Studies
- National Diploma in Nature Conservation
- Postgraduate Diploma in Museum and Heritage Studies / Archives
2. Office of the CEO
- LLB or Bachelor’s in Legal Studies
- Bachelor’s in Public Administration (Performance Planning & Evaluation)
3. Marketing & Tourism
- Diploma in Marketing
- Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Media Studies
4. Education Department
- Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Studies (Librarianship)
5. Human Resources
- National Diploma in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology
- National Diploma in Health & Safety
- Basic Life Support Qualification (HPCSA registered, Code 10 with PrDP, CPD compliant)
6. Finance
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance
7. Supply Chain Management (SCM)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Procurement
8. Operations Department
- National Diploma in:
- Public Relations Management
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
- Hospitality / Travel & Tourism
- BTech in Facility Management
- BEng / BSc in Structural or Civil Engineering
- National Diploma in ICT, Information Systems, or Computer Science
- Valid Certifications: CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA
