About Potatoes South Africa (PSA)
Potatoes South Africa (PSA) plays a vital role in promoting, serving, and protecting the potato industry in the country. Guided by its Board of Directors, the organisation ensures that the needs of South African potato producers are met while strengthening the industry as a whole.
In 2004, the Potato Industry Development Trust (PIDT) was established to support students pursuing studies in agriculture. The trust’s main goal is to secure the future of the potato industry by developing a pipeline of skilled professionals who can contribute to the sector.
Fields Covered by the Potatoes SA Bursary 2026
Potatoes South Africa is inviting applications for its 2026 bursary programme. The funding is available for students in the following fields of study:
- Undergraduate studies: Agricultural fields such as Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Plant and Crop Production, Soil Science, and other potato-related studies.
- Postgraduate studies: Honours, Master’s, or PhD qualifications, provided the research is based on a potato-related topic.

Eligibility Criteria for the Potatoes SA Bursary 2026
Before applying, ensure that you meet the following minimum requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have completed Matric.
- Must be studying full-time towards an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in agriculture.
- Must be entering 2nd year or higher of study in 2026.
- Must be enrolled at a recognised and accredited South African tertiary institution.
- Must have a strong academic record.
