The Peermont Education Trust (PET) is inviting eligible South African students to apply for its 2026 bursary programme. This initiative is dedicated to empowering youth from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Area in Gauteng by funding their tertiary education and creating opportunities for long-term success.

About the Peermont Education Trust Bursary

The Peermont Education Trust Bursary was established to support talented and hardworking youth from Ekurhuleni who are eager to pursue their undergraduate studies but face financial barriers. With the exception of Medicine, the bursary covers any field of study at accredited tertiary institutions based in Gauteng.

This programme forms part of Peermont’s broader socio-economic mission to uplift local communities, nurture potential, and open pathways into sustainable careers.


What the Bursary Covers

Successful applicants will receive comprehensive support that may include:

  • Full registration and tuition fees
  • Prescribed books and study materials
  • Accommodation (subject to approval)

This funding is designed to give students the freedom to focus on their academic journey without the burden of financial strain.


Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed based on the following:

  • Academic excellence and proven potential
  • Financial need, measured against household income
  • Bursary renewals will depend on consistent academic performance
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews
  • The Trustees’ decisions are final and binding

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Peermont Education Trust Bursary 2026, candidates must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Reside permanently in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng
  • Be studying or planning to study full-time toward an undergraduate qualification (excluding Medicine)
  • Be accepted at, or currently enrolled in, an accredited tertiary institution in Gauteng
  • Ensure the chosen programme has a duration of at least one year

Required Supporting Documents

Applicants are expected to submit clear, certified copies of the following:

  • South African ID
  • Academic results:
    • Grade 11 results and Matric June 2025 report (for current Matrics; final results must be submitted once available)
    • Matric/NSC results (if already completed)
    • Latest full academic record (if already at university)
  • Proof of residence in Ekurhuleni (e.g., utilities account)
  • Proof of household income:
    • Latest payslips or wage slips (if employed)
    • Affidavit (if unemployed)
    • Affidavit stating annual income (if self-employed)
    • Death certificates of parents/guardians (if applicable)
