The National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) is inviting applications from unemployed South African graduates for its Internal Audit Internship Programme for 2025. Internship Overview
- Duration: 24 Months
- Location: NMISA Offices, South Africa
- Stipend: R80,096.00 per annum
This internship forms part of the Internal Audit Technician Learnership and is designed to combine practical workplace experience with theoretical training. Interns will actively support NMISA’s Internal Audit Unit and gain exposure to professional audit standards and practices.
Purpose of the Internship
The programme is aimed at building strong foundational experience for graduates pursuing a career in internal auditing. Successful interns will contribute to NMISA’s audit processes while developing the skills required to qualify as certified Internal Audit Technicians.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a three-year tertiary qualification in Internal Auditing
- A postgraduate qualification will be considered an added advantage
- Familiarity with IIA Global Internal Audit Standards
- Basic knowledge of the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and related legislation
- Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and report writing abilities
Key Responsibilities
Interns will assist the Internal Audit team with a wide range of tasks, including:
- Opening and maintaining audit files
- Performing audits across operational, compliance, IT, and financial areas
- Drafting audit reports and compiling supporting working papers
- Conducting follow-up audits and handling ad hoc audit tasks
- Supporting administrative functions within the Internal Audit Unit
- Responding to feedback and review notes from senior auditors
- Collaborating with senior team members during scheduled audits
