Internship Overview

The Learning Design Internship gives you the opportunity to support MiWay’s Learning & Development team in designing, developing, and maintaining engaging, learner-centred training materials.

As an intern, you’ll gain first-hand exposure to digital learning tools, content creation, and multimedia design, contributing to initiatives that enhance employee performance and development across the organisation.

Minimum Application Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for this internship:

  • Be South African citizens aged 18 to 35 years.
  • Be unemployed (with less than 6 months of previous employment experience).
  • Must not have participated in an INSETA internship before.
  • Must have a completed qualification — degree or diploma — in one of the following fields:
    • Instructional Design
    • Education
    • Multimedia Design
    • Learning & Development

Key Responsibilities

As a Learning Design Intern, your day-to-day role will include:

  • Assisting in designing and developing learning materials, including e-learning modules, facilitator guides, learner workbooks, and assessments.
  • Supporting the creation of multimedia learning resources, such as videos, presentations, and infographics.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather and structure learning content.
  • Conducting research to identify effective learning strategies and new design trends.
  • Uploading and testing courses on the Learning Management System (LMS) while ensuring quality assurance.
  • Maintaining and updating learning materials as required.
  • Collecting learner feedback and providing recommendations for course improvement.
  • Participating in brainstorming sessions and contributing creative ideas to enhance learning initiatives.

Skills and Competencies

To thrive in this internship, candidates should possess the following:

  • Familiarity with e-learning tools such as Articulate 360, Canva, or Vyond (advantageous).
  • Strong command of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle) is beneficial.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
