As a Development Intern, you will support the wider Development Team while learning how projects move from initial concept through design, approvals, and into execution. This role gives you the chance to work closely with the Development Manager, Programme Manager, and teams in Projects, Design, Property, and New Business.
What You Will Be Doing
Project Support
You will support project brief meetings by capturing key details such as scopes, timelines, and action points. Throughout the project cycle, you’ll assist the Project Management Office with tracking milestones, keeping progress reports up to date, and preparing for mid-project reviews.
Your role includes attending project meetings, taking minutes, coordinating communication with stakeholders like designers, contractors, and operations teams, and ensuring follow-up actions are completed on time.
Design Team Assistance
You will attend design meetings, help prepare agendas, and distribute relevant documentation.
Part of your daily tasks will include reviewing store layout drawings, compiling design comments, and managing council submission packs.
The flow of information between the design team and other departments will depend on your coordination to ensure that drawings and approvals are shared and delivered without delays.
Property Administration
Your responsibilities include maintaining property databases and filing systems, managing compliance documentation, and preparing lease packs and correspondence.
You will coordinate property maintenance requests and monitor how quickly issues are resolved, supporting smooth property operations.
New Business Support
You will also collaborate with the New Business team by preparing site registration submissions, internal approval documentation, and due diligence packs.
This role includes organising prospect meetings, preparing offer-to-lease documents, and tracking new site opportunities.
In addition, you’ll compile market research, demographic insights, and commercial terms to support new business proposals.
General Administrative Duties
Your daily administrative support will include managing calendars, organising meetings, and arranging travel and event logistics for the development team.
You’ll assist with preparing weekly reports and presentations while maintaining accurate, well-organised records.
Whenever required, you will conduct research and compile information to help managers and team leads make informed decisions.
What You Need to Qualify
Minimum Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
- A bachelor’s degree or current enrolment in Property, Business, Project Management, Design, or a related field.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work with confidential information responsibly.
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
