About GIBB and the YES Programme
The YES Programme is a collaboration between business and government aimed at reducing youth unemployment by providing young people with valuable skills, workplace exposure, and a monthly salary. Through this initiative, participants significantly improve their chances of securing long-term employment.
GIBB supports this mission by offering YES learner placements in the Water and Integrated Infrastructure (WIIG) and Transport (Mechanical Engineering) delivery units. These placements provide hands-on experience in dynamic engineering environments, contributing to projects that make a real difference.
Who Can Apply
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education:
- Grade 12 or equivalent with Mathematics, Science, and English.
- BTech or BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
- Eligibility:
- South African citizen (born in South Africa).
- Aged between 18 and 35.
- Unemployed and available for a 12-month fixed-term contract.
- Not a previous YES beneficiary.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Computer literacy (PC skills essential).
- CAD literacy (preferably AutoCAD or similar).
- Willingness to learn new skills in your field.
- Responsible, honest, and self-motivated.
