The Gauteng College of Nursing (GCON) invites applications for its 2026 Student Nurse Intake, offering aspiring healthcare professionals the opportunity to earn a Diploma in Nursing at one of four prestigious campuses:
- Ann Latsky Campus
- Chris Hani Baragwanath Campus
- SG Lourens Campus
- Bonalesedi Campus
This programme is ideal for those dedicated to enhancing South African healthcare and serving their communities.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must:
- Be a South African citizen residing in Gauteng Province.
- Possess one of the following:
- Senior Certificate
- National Senior Certificate (NSC)
- National Vocational Certificate (Primary Health)
- Be currently in Grade 12
- Submit applications exclusively online via the GPG Professional Job Centre by September 26, 2025. No hand-delivered, posted, or emailed applications will be accepted.
- Create a profile on the system and upload required documents. Shortlisted candidates must provide additional documentation during selection.
Academic Requirements
Senior Certificate
- English: HG (D) or SG (C)
- Biology: HG (D) or SG (C)
- Mathematics: HG (D) or SG (C)
- M-Score: 17
National Senior Certificate
- English: Level 4
- Life Sciences: Level 4
- Mathematics: Level 4 OR Mathematical Literacy: Level 5
- APS: 27+ (Life Orientation counts as half)
National Vocational Certificate
- Fundamental Subjects: 50% (English FAL, Maths/Maths Literacy, Life Orientation)
- Vocational Subjects: 60% (SA Health Care System, Public Health, Human Body and Mind, Community Oriented Primary Care)
Current Grade 12 Learners
- Must meet NSC requirements based on Grade 11 final results.

Programme Obligations
Accepted students must:
- Sign an agreement with the Gauteng Department of Health.
- Attend lectures at their designated campus.
- Participate in Work Integrated Learning (WIL), involving shifts, weekends, nights, and public holidays at Gauteng Department of Health hospitals and clinics.
