Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (FPE) Bursary 2026

The Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (FPE) provides financial assistance to pharmacy students (BPharm) in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study at accredited South African universities. This bursary aims to support deserving students based on academic performance, financial need, and other special circumstances.


Who Can Apply

  • South African citizens who are PSSA student members.
  • Registered BPharm students entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year in 2026.
  • Minimum overall academic average of 60% at mid-year; all subjects must be passed.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide full disclosure of family income.

Bursary Coverage

The bursary may cover:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation
  • Prescribed books
  • Other study-related expenses

Funds are paid directly to universities and never into personal accounts.


Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  1. Completed FPE bursary application form in block letters.
  2. Certified copy of a valid South African ID.
  3. Full academic transcript (previous years included).
  4. Letter of motivation from a pharmacy lecturer.
  5. Certified proof of household income:
    • Employed: recent payslip.
    • Self-employed: balance sheet.
    • Informal sector: affidavit.
    • Pensioner: affidavit or income tax statement.
  6. Completed financial declaration and affidavit (signed before a Commissioner of Oaths).

Special Conditions

  • Bursaries are awarded for one academic year; renewal requires re-application.
  • Recipients must notify FPE if they receive another bursary of R20 000 or more; the award may be adjusted or withdrawn.
  • If studies are discontinued or failed, the bursary may become repayable.
