About the ETDP SETA Coded Welding Skills Programme 2025/2026
The Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA), through its Mpumalanga Provincial Office, in partnership with Ehlanzeni TVET College, invites unemployed youth to apply for the Coded Welding Skills Programme for the 2025/2026 intake.
This initiative is designed to empower young South Africans with technical and practical skills in welding, preparing them for employment in the manufacturing, construction, and engineering sectors. Participants will receive hands-on and theoretical training that meets industry standards for professional coded welders.
Programme Overview
The primary objective of this programme is to train learners to perform high-quality welding work that complies with a qualified Welding Procedure Specification (WPS). Trainees will learn how to produce welds that meet both visual and non-destructive testing standards, and, when required, destructive evaluation acceptance criteria.
Beyond technical proficiency, learners will also be trained in essential health and safety principles, ensuring compliance with workplace standards. The course equips participants with the ability to produce positional welds using various materials and processes, making them job-ready for opportunities in South Africa’s growing industrial sectors.
