Introduction

The Drakenstein Municipality is inviting applications for its 2026 bursary programme. This opportunity is open to qualifying youth between the ages of 18 and 35 who are permanent residents of Paarl, Wellington, Gouda, Saron, or Simondium.

These partial bursaries are aimed at supporting young people who wish to further their studies in fields that are critical to the Local Government sector. The bursaries will fund full-time studies in the following areas:

  • Engineering: Civil, Mechanical, Electro-Technical
  • Town and Regional Planning
  • Local Economic Development and Tourism
  • Architectural Technology
  • Environmental Studies: Water/Wastewater, Solid Waste Management
  • Finance: Financial Management, Accounting, Auditing
  • Artisan Development Training: Diesel Mechanics, Welding, Building Construction, Plumbing, Electrical (Heavy Current)
  • Community and Social Development
  • Sports Administration
  • Public Administration and Services: Law Enforcement, Firefighting, Traffic Management, Human Resources, Public Management
  • Accredited Skills Programmes: Hairdressing, Welding, Painting, Grass Cutting, Digger Loader, and others

Bursary Requirements

To qualify for the Drakenstein Municipality Bursaries 2026, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Be a permanent resident of Paarl, Wellington, Gouda, Saron, or Simondium
  • Submit latest academic results (June or September 2025)
  • Provide proof of application to a tertiary or learning institution
  • Ensure the application form is fully completed with all supporting documents attached

Note: Current bursary holders continuing their studies will automatically qualify if they meet the policy’s academic requirements.

If you do not receive any feedback by 31 January 2026, please consider your application unsuccessful.
