Empowering the Youth Through Education
The City of Polokwane Municipality proudly invites applications from deserving and financially needy students for its External Bursary Programme 2026. This initiative aims to uplift young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who reside within the Polokwane Municipality, helping them access higher education and contribute meaningfully to the city’s future growth, innovation, and development.
Who Can Apply
To qualify for the City of Polokwane External Bursary Programme 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a Grade 12 learner or have already passed Grade 12 and be enrolled at an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Must be studying towards a first Degree, National Diploma, or National N Diploma.
- Must be a permanent resident of the Polokwane Municipality.
- Must come from a disadvantaged background.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must not be a beneficiary of any other bursary scheme.
Note: Successful applicants will be required to enter into a Bursary Agreement with the Municipality.
Required Supporting Documents
Applicants are required to submit certified copies of the following documents with their application form:
- Applicant’s ID document
- Latest Grade 12 results or certificate (for current Grade 12 learners)
- Parent(s)/Legal Guardian ID
- Provisional acceptance letter from an accredited institution of higher learning (excluding private colleges and universities)
- Proof of residence (letter from a Traditional Local Authority or a recent municipal utility bill not older than 3 months)
- Proof of income for parent(s)/legal guardian:
- Certified proof of income or affidavit (if unemployed)
- Certified proof of pension or SASSA grant (if applicable)
- Proof of divorce decree (if parents are divorced)
- Death certificate (if a parent is deceased)
- Medical documents (for applicants living with disabilities)
All documents must be clear and valid, and applications missing required information will not be considered.
How to Apply
Application forms can be obtained from the following Polokwane Municipality offices:
- City Centre and Cluster Offices (Seshego, Sebayeng, Aganang, Molepo, Mankweng, Chuene, and Maja)
- Human Resource Development SBU, Office 905 & 903, Corner of Landros Mare and Bodenstein Streets
Completed applications must be submitted to the offices listed above on or before 05 December 2025 at 16h30.
Late applications will not be accepted.
Important Notes
- Learners and students living with disabilities who meet the requirements are strongly encouraged to apply.
- All successful candidates will sign a bursary agreement with the Municipality.
