Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) is calling on South African youth to apply for its 2025/2026 Trainee Programme, with 117 bursary opportunities available. The programme is aimed at developing skilled professionals in air traffic management, with full training provided at the Aviation Training Academy in Bonaero Park, Gauteng.


What the Programme Offers

This initiative gives selected bursars the opportunity to study in a structured training environment. Trainees will receive extensive exposure to key areas of air traffic services and management. Upon successful completion of the programme, placements will be aligned with the operational needs of ATNS across the country.


Bursary Streams Available

Applicants can apply to join one of the following Air Traffic Services bursary streams:

  • Air Traffic Services Officer (ATSO)
  • Aeronautical Information Management Officer (AIMO)
  • Target Generating Officer (TGO)
  • Airport Management Centre (AMC) Liaison Officer
  • Simulator Support Officer (SSO)

Entry Requirements

To qualify for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Grade 12/Matric certificate
  • Must have passed:
    • Pure Mathematics at Level 4 or higher (HG – D or SG – C or above)
    • English at Level 4 or higher (HG – D or SG – C or above)
  • Be a South African citizen with a valid ID
  • Be medically fit, and for the ATSO stream, willing to undergo a medical assessment
  • Be unemployed
  • Be willing to relocate anywhere in South Africa
  • Must attach Grade 12 results with the application
