The Professional-In-Training (PIT): Electrical Programme is a structured three-year graduate development journey that gives young engineers the opportunity to acquire both technical and practical experience. This training is designed to meet the requirements for GCC (Government Certificate of Competence) and ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) registration.

Key Responsibilities

As a PIT: Electrical, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Registering as an Engineer in Training with the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) to obtain the GCC Mines and Works qualification (compulsory).

  • Rotating through multiple departments and mining sites to gain broad experience.
  • Attending GCC Law and GCC Plant training sessions.
  • Completing all required Annexure E modules for underground mine training.
  • Submitting quarterly technical reports documenting your progress.
  • Maintaining annual registration with both DMR and ECSA.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the programme, applicants must:

  • Have completed a BEng or BTech in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current only).
  • Have completed the relevant Electrical Engineering modules required by the DMRE.
  • Possess a valid South African driver’s license.

  • Contract Duration: Fixed-term, 36 months (3 years)
  • Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng (with possible site rotations)
