Fields of Study Supported
Funding is available for the following qualifications at recognised tertiary institutions or SAMSA-accredited training facilities:
- Bachelor of Marine Engineering
- Bachelor of Nautical Science
- Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (Deck Officer)
These qualifications are internationally recognised and prepare graduates for specialised maritime careers both onshore and offshore.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the AMSOL Bursary Programme 2026, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Hold a Grade 12 qualification with at least Level 5 (60%) in English, Mathematics, and Physical Science
- Be unbonded, meaning not already funded by another bursary for 2026
