What the Programme Offers
The Electrical Apprentice Programme at AECI Plant Health offers structured hands-on training in electrical systems. The focus is on building skills in maintenance, installation, and diagnostics in line with the Merseta apprenticeship requirements.
Through this programme, apprentices will gain exposure to a range of practical tasks, such as working on 3-phase motors, performing building wiring, and ensuring all tasks meet strict safety and quality regulations.
Key Responsibilities
As part of the apprenticeship, you will be expected to:
- Complete both the theoretical and practical modules of the programme
- Assist in installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and fix malfunctioning equipment
- Support new installations and system upgrades
- Follow all relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards
- Operate electrical testing equipment and maintain detailed service records
- Participate in equipment commissioning and testing alongside the team
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the AECI Electrical Apprenticeship, applicants must meet the following:
- Grade 12 with an N3 Electrical post-matric qualification
- Awareness of the SANS 10142 wiring code and knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSAct)
- Understanding of the Merseta apprenticeship structure
- Basic computer literacy and report-writing ability
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication and solid problem-solving skills
