About the ABSA Graduate Internship Programme

The ABSA Graduate Internship offers young South Africans the chance to build a career in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment. Participants will be placed in one of five specialised streams, each contributing to ABSA’s mission of reshaping financial services for the future.

Internship Tracks Available

1. Digital Product Graduate

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Digital Business, or related field.
  • A postgraduate qualification is an advantage.

Duties:

  • Assist with the design, testing, and rollout of digital banking products.
  • Support product managers in monitoring adoption and performance.
  • Conduct competitor research to improve offerings.
  • Collaborate with IT, design, and marketing teams.

2. Digital Strategy Graduate

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Economics, Strategic Management, or similar.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.

Duties:

  • Support senior strategists in developing digital transformation plans.
  • Research emerging fintech trends and their impact.
  • Help design ABSA’s long-term digital roadmap.
  • Track and report on strategic initiatives.

3. Business Analyst Graduate

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Information Systems, Statistics, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation ability.

Duties:

  • Gather and document business requirements.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends and improvements.
  • Facilitate communication between business units and developers.
  • Support system testing to ensure functionality.

4. Customer Design Graduate

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human-Centred Design, Marketing, Psychology, Communication Design, or related field.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI is advantageous.

Duties:

  • Map and improve customer journeys.
  • Assist with user-friendly interface and communication design.
  • Conduct feedback sessions and implement insights.
  • Support workshops focused on customer innovation.

5. Process Design Graduate

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Duties:

  • Analyse and improve current banking processes.
  • Suggest workflow redesigns to increase efficiency.
  • Support automation rollouts and digital transformation.
  • Prepare documentation and training material.
