About the Learnership

Aligned with the South African Institute of Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH) standards and SafetyCloud’s Quality Management System (QMS), the programme ensures candidates gain practical knowledge while upholding industry compliance and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Learners will play a vital role in supporting the occupational hygiene team. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting Registered Occupational Hygienists (ROH, ROHT, or ROHA) during monitoring surveys.
- Preparing accurate and timely survey reports.
- Following standard procedures outlined in the company’s QMS.
- Supporting calibration, preparation, and maintenance of monitoring equipment and sampling media.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Qualifications
- A recent graduate with a degree in Occupational Hygiene, or currently studying part-time toward a Hygiene qualification.
- Professional registration with SAIOH as a Registered Occupational Hygiene Assistant (ROHA) will be an advantage.
- A valid Legal Knowledge Certificate and Ethics Training Certificate will be beneficial.
Skills and Knowledge
- Basic understanding of occupational hygiene concepts and terminology.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as air sampling pumps and noise dosimeters.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical procedures.
- Good written communication skills, particularly for report preparation.
- Ability to work independently as well as in team-based field conditions.
- Flexibility to travel and work irregular hours when required.
Additional Requirements
- Preference will be given to employment equity candidates.
- A valid driver’s licence (or proof of being in the process of obtaining one).
- Reliable transport will be advantageous.
